The buttons on the back of the head are for controlling her eyes. They move side to side and open and shut. No batteries required. Instructions included and pictured. Sold as is.
UPDATE: We figured it out. The buttons that control the opening and closing of the eyes sometimes stick. I would recommend not using them. The lever in the middle controls the eyes moving side to side. That works just fine.
