This first edition Vie Du Fleuve, by artist Aline Honore hails from 2005. Though her works for the house run deep, this scarf has the distinction of being her first design for Hermes. Depicting life on the river, there are many rich details to discover in this silk treasure. From the realistic women and children wading through the water and the men in canoes in the upper third of the central square; to the village scene, water buffalo, and baskets and pottery in the middle third; down to the skilled fishermen bringing in their catch at the bottom third; and of course the whimsical animals -- including birds, fish, and reptiles along the border -- this carre does not disappoint.
