A very rare variety of the 1838 seated liberty dime. It is known as the partial drapery variety. In 1841 drapery was added and hung from Miss Liberties elbow on her left arm. That being said, 1838 was much to early to have this feature. It is in fact a die clash that shows in the same area as the future drapery. The clash is stronger on some than others but can be made out just below the elbow. Lot 709
